(Writing Metaphors about the Brain)

Nervous??? Me??? Naw... People always say I've got lots of nerve. You silly, the Brain and Nervous System work together as a team... like you and I... I must be the Brain and you are the nerves... hee, hee..

Your brain and nervous system are an amazing team. Take some time to visit these sites. You can start your tour by:

• Seeing a movie about Brains from Brain Pop
• To find out what brains in other animals are like click on Brains, Brains, Brains
• For some good information on brains check out the ThinkQuest Website. It also show you what your brain looks like with xrays, and other medical tests
• Play some "Brain Games" to sharpen your Brain.

Read some Metaphors for the Brain, then write some of your own. Many good starting phrases are given, and you can make up your own. Share your metaphors on our Discussion Board.

Illustrate your metaphor using a drawing program like Paint and save your file to your computer. Include your picture with your metaphor.

To add a picture to the Discussion Board,

• Have your teacher make sure the picture is web ready (they are saved as a gif or jpeg file).
• Then use the "\image" command in the same message window.
• The computer will ask you where your file is..
• Click on "browse" to find it
• Click on upload...... and you should see your picture and your paragraphs all in the same message..
