Day
2- Evaluating Web Pages
And
Designing my individual Web Page
Look at some designing elements -- What makes a good web
page?
We are going to check out some web pages but before we start
lets talk about some criteria that professional web designers use..........
Sites
to check out your web page performance:
Type in the above URLS ( or copy and paste from your browser into these
windows).....
Doctor HTML: http://www2.imagiware.com/RxHTML/
Website Garage: http://www.websitegarage.com/
http://www.websitegarage.com/
How did your websites compare to the Garage's or the Doctors?
Be prepared to summarize to the class
what you learned about a good web site!
Create a design for my individual web page
-
Designing elements
-
Set up 2 folders on your disk in the A:/ drive (you may also want to
make a temporary backup copy on the computer you are working on - just
be sure to move that folder to the recycling bin when the class is over)
-
Icons - This folder will hold all your
graphics (pictures)
-
htm - This folder will hold all your
Web pages
-
Planning -
- Use the Planning Template -
-
Think about your audience, Purpose and the Main Ideas you want to
cover in your pages
-
Fill in the File names for each of your pages,
-
And the Text you will use to create links on that page….
-
In other words -- On our first page for Webmeisters - the name of the file
is "index.htm". On that page I have text for the file for "Day 1" linked
to "Day1.htm".
-
Next - Think about each page of your web site -- let the Template
help you think about:
-
the Details you want on each page
-
What links you need to have to other pages
-
What graphics do you need to find or create for each page
-
Remember -- The more Planning
you do now, the less time you will waste later…..
Using MicroSoft Word, create an
invitation to your parents for next Thursday's Demo!
Don't forget to fill out
today's Journal entry!
