Cultural

Using a Writing POD to
Write Indigenous Tales
Good writers study the works of others
to find out about good literature.
The CJX
will take you to visit the links below for samples of Cultural Tales
that explain how nature evolved:
Why
'Possum has a Large Mouth
Why
the Possum's Tail is Bare
Starlore
of Native America
The
Spring Beauty ( or Spring Captures Winter)
Aurora
Borealis (Beautiful picture of the Northern lights and an explanation
for them)
The CJX will now take
you back to the Writing POD area to begin your writing experience.
Prewriting
.....Thinking of ideas for your tale...
Welcome to the Writing POD! Your first
stop in the POD is the Conference Area to brainstorm with other
writers to find topics to write about. You need ideas about things
in nature that may have an explanation. You can meet others online
by opening this Conference
room.
Type in your ideas in the bottom chat
window. Your classmates will be typing in some ideas also. You should
be able to see the entire list. You can save the log to your computer
and then print it out to look at it later and choose one you want
to write.
Once you decide on the
Tale you want to write, click "Create
a new POD" (or choose your own Writing POD) to write your
rough draft. You can invite a friend into your "POD chat"
to help you edit your story. If you need help, click on "Finding
your way around the PODS" . You will need your login name
and password.
