Finding
Keywords to type into Search Engines
Finding
keywords can be as easy as using some of your resources. Here
are a few ideas:
-
Brainstorm
with your team words that remind you of the word you are
looking for.
- Use
your resources: Start
with the dictionary. Look up the words and study the definitions.
Are there any words that are given, that could replace the
word you are using? Look for synonyms or antonyms. Study each
of the definitions given ...
is there a word or two that summarizes the definition?
- Check
the thesaurus.... Look for synonyms for the word. Try those
in your search.... you can also look up the synonyms in the
dictionary or thesaurus.
- Check
tools either on your own computer or a spell checker for synonyms.
- Look
up the word in the encyclopedia either in the volume itself,
or in the index.
- Check
our online sources such as Ask
Jeeves or the Dictionary/Thesaurus tools you can find
in our Library.
- Keep
a list of keywords in your Electronic Notebook inside your
pod for future help.
- Learn
how to narrow and expand your search using "Boolean
Search" words.
Be
sure to post the best "keywords" and your strategies
for finding them in our Message
