As I work on my dissertation, I need more research on virtual schools at the middle school level, and especially on why collaboration is so important at that level. If you have any good resources, please share with me..

Barb, Do you know about the Florida Virtual School
    http://www.flvs.net/ ?

They’ve had quite a bit of success with K-12 online education.

Moving onto the research on Virtual Schools… I need high level articles on them, but keep finding low level ones such as NewsWeek, Wired News, or Time articles. I guess that’s a good sign, as it means that virtual schools are now making there way into everyone’s living room.

If anyone finds some good sources on virtual schools, particularly on collaboration occurring in them, or even just an evaluation of them, please share.

    Thanks,
    Barb

After talking with a colleague, I think I’m going to limit the study a little more to an evaluative study for collaboration occurring in virtual schools and if there is any correlation between test scores and collaboration.

It should be an interesting study… now all I need to do is get the paper done!!

An update… the above topic got dropped because my advisor and I envisioned different studies.

I’m now working on a topic to see how mastery learning is different in a virtual classroom and a face to face one.

    Will keep you posted.
