PTA MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 16, 1999
Welcome & Introductions - Meeting started at 7:00 P.M. with 19 people in attendance.
Officers Reports:
President (Denise Gann) Need volunteers to attend PTA night in Annapolis on Feb. 22. No one can attend because of Pancake night. On Feb. 24, Harford County Council is having a program at Bel Air High School on the subject of violence called Kid's Need A Future, Not A Funeral.
Co-Vice President (Lisa Foltz) On Feb. 10 Lisa attended a budget hearing at Fallston High School along with several other parents and teachers. She read a speech at the hearing regarding the Harford County School budget.
Lisa commented on the Harford County Council of PTA newsletter.
She also mentioned the new circulation sheets she made up for everyone to be able to read any news that may be of importance to them, and then pass on the information to someone else on the list. Mrs. Rutherford asked Lisa to mention to the people attending PTA meetings to sign the volunteer book. They will also be honored at the end of the school year. The teachers lounge now has a new refrigerator that the PTA purchased at a cost of just $50.00 for the delivery. This is thanks to Debbie Miller. Sue Braun presented her with a gift from the PTA for all she has done for Dublin Elementary. Dragon Day items were purchased at a store that was going out of business. We received 75% off the regular prices. Pat Benedict of the Harford County PTA mentioned getting a hospitality person to be in charge of calling on people to bring drinks and snacks to the meetings. We need a by-law committee to go over the by-laws and Lisa nominated Monica Nelson as chairperson. We also need a chairperson for the nominating committee for the election of new officers for the coming school year. Co-Vice President (Monica Nelson) Monica passed out Maryland PTA Guide for Money Management. It was pointed out what should and should not be paid for by the PTA.
Treasurer (Ginger Barger) The checking account has a balance of $2,762.09. There has been a savings account with a balance of $279.70 from many years ago still open and Ginger motioned that it be closed and the balance be put in the checking account. There was 14 new people that signed up during the membership drive which makes it now 131 PTA members. The state dues are going up in the next three years. We all agreed that the PTA will continue to pay for all field trips.
Secretary (Sue Braun) Asked everyone to sign the attendance sheet. Passed around a thank you card from Mrs. Cook thanking the PTA for the
movie passes that were given to her for National School Nurses Day.

Playground Equipment- Allan Nelson reported he has spoke to Mrs. Payne about the playground. He said the first thing that needs to be done is mulching to get the area safe. The balance beam needs to be removed as soon as possible. The equipment is going to be very expensive and it would be a good idea to create a foundation fund. He said he needs to know what the needs are. He talked to Home Depot, but feels that we need to offer them something in return, such as free advertising. Mrs. Payne said that would be fine.
